Celebrate the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s “Il re pastore” with a captivating concert performance in the historic Rittersaal der Residenz on April 23, 2025.

At the same time and place, exactly 250 years ago, on April 23, 1775, Wolfgang Amadé Mozart conducted the premiere of his two-act serenata “Il re pastore” at the Prince Archbishop’s Residenztheater in Salzburg. Commissioned by Prince Archbishop Hieronymus Count Colloredo for the visit of Archduke Maximilian Franz, the work showcases Mozart’s early mastery with its colorful orchestration and emotional depth.

A high-caliber cast led by Rolando Villazón will celebrate this important anniversary at the original venue, with Emily Pogorelc as Aminta. Join us for this historic musical celebration.
